First Season not so bad after all

I just got season one for a good price.

Wow! Not only had I missed a couple episodes, but I didn't realize it was as decent as it is. I mean it has a few cheesey moments, but I'm really enjoying watching it again. Especially knowing how things turn out, I'm catching all kinds of details I missed. Morden went first to G'kar and asked what he wanted, and he said he wanted the Centauri Homeworld in ruins....which they later accomplish, while still giving the Centauri what Londo asked for. Neat stuff....

Season was always my favorite. Why? Five reasons:

    1. Sinclair was much more believable as a military leader; the tone, the diction, the delivery, all much better than Sheridan.

    2. Atmosphere is charged with optimism and hope; much more to lose later on.

    3. Stage is being set for later on; characters still presenting early faces (i.e., G'Kar supposed to be the villain; Londo is the buffoon, etc.).

    4. Babylon 5 still has a "frontier" atmosphere, things much more unpredictable.

    5. First appearance of many plot elements which resurface later.

as one who adored the beginning and even after all this time has yet to see the end i kinda have to agree with the above. the first season felt like it was all tocome, there was this big vast place and story unfolding and i waited to see where i would be taken next week. the exicitement seemed to dwindle as the seasons wore on and the times it was shown went all to hell. but it remains forever endeared to me as a class series and i will see it all one day!

and oh yes, sherriden kicked ass.

i think i got used to being sadly lacking......one day i'll have them all and just have a mass B5athon......i need to live near more geeks. my sci-fi geekdom tends to drop some with too much alone time.

I am the only person that I know of who has the opinion that (with the exception of the final three episodes) the series was one year too long. My advice is always to just skip year 5 and enjoy the best part of the series.

Due to the changeover of the 5th season to TNT, and a lack of cable in my area, I missed the 5th season almost completely. I was glad to see the wrap up in season 4. For me, it does go year 1 through year 4. So, I agree! :-)

And Pip; you can get the entire series on Netflix. Season 4 is my favorite with the space battles and such. I am such the geek!

The first season of B5 was not all that bad, just really slow.

Sort of like a "dramatis personae" where they introduce the characters and plots that would be going for the show's run...

    I personally loved it!
